The past couple of years have been alright for famed gun manufacturer Smith & Wesson but 2012 has been exceptionally kind.
“Gross profit for the first quarter was $51.3 million, or 37.7% of net sales, compared with gross profit of $26.5 million, or 28.9% of net sales, for the comparable quarter last year [emphasis added],” the company said in its press release.
And it doesn’t end there.
“The company earned 27 cents vs. expectations of 18 cents,” Business Insider’sJoe Weisenthal writes. “Revenue was $136 million vs. estimates of just over $128.7 million.”
The company also expects earnings of 19 to 21 cents in the next quarter, which, as Weisenthal notes, is way above earlier estimates of 13 cents.
But let’s try to visualize this information:
“When the final bubble does pop (and here we make the wild assumption that no intelligent extraterrestrial life will be found to bail out the central banks in time), at least everyone will be locked and loaded,” Zero Hedge notes.
Here are some key takeaways from the company’s most recent investor presentation [via Zero Hedge]:
Record-level quarterly sales growth from continuing ops of $136.0M, +48.3% Y/Y
Record-level quarterly income from continuing ops of $18.9M, or $0.28 per diluted share
Raised Full Year Fiscal 2013 Financial Guidance
Exceeded high end of upwardly revised sales guidance
Backlog of $392.4M versus $148.8 one year ago
Simply put, and as the above chart clearly demonstrates, demand for the company’s products has grown exponentially over the past two years and it doesn’t look like it will slow down any time soon.
“Smith & Wesson rose $1.07, or 12 percent, to $10.07 on surging gun sales and a raised profit forecast,” the Associated Press reported Friday. “The gun company said it expects earnings for the quarter ending October to climb to as much as twice what analysts had expected.”
Political commercials using a candidate’s own words to show that someone has changed positions, flip-flopped or lied, is nothing new. However, TheBlaze has discovered a new video that seems to take the idea a few steps further, expanding the :30 second commercial into a short, un-narrated documentary.
The compilation attached here is first product posted online by an amateur video editor. TheBlaze interviewed the project’s creator. The man (who wishes to remain anonymous) told us that he wanted to show his undecided friends (as well as those considering voting for Obama) the stark contrast between what the president has said in the past and what he has said and done in office.
He used clips from previous appearances by President Obama as well as excerpts from various ads and news programs and built something he calls “Words Matter.”
The YouTube description reads:
A short un-narrated documentary that looks at Obama’s first term with regards to transparency, healthcare, taxes, fairness, energy and the national debt – guaranteed to contain information of interest.
The heretofore apolitical unnamed editor describes himself “just a guy in his living room. ” He said that his goal was to get the viewer’s attention for less than fifteen minutes. Mission accomplished — the video runs just 13:27 (including a short promo for “2016” that was tacked onto the end.
McNaughton writes on his website, “I am just one person, a citizen of this country using my first amendment rights to speak out through my art. This is my declaration that we have never had a president do more to harm our country than Barack Obama.”
He describes “Obamanation” as representing ”all the subtle, mindless, radical and dangerous atrocities of the Obama administration” in a single painting.
We Will Hunt ‘Pink A**es’ Down, ‘Kill ’Em, Dig ‘Em Up & Kill ‘Em Again & Again & Again!’
“That’s our brother, brother General Taco!” the New Black Panther radio host announced.
General T.A.C.O. (Taking All Capitalists Out) of the New Black Panther Party had some less than encouraging words for white people this week. Mr. Taco, speaking on NBPP Radio on Sunday, decided to let white America know that the NBPP will “hunt” their “pink asses down.” Hunting white people down will serve to accomplish General Taco’s other stated goal of “destroying white supremacy and capitalism.”
Gen. Taco also justifies his killing of white people because of their “history” of pushing “crack, AIDS and unemployment“ on black men and women in order to ”exterminate” them.
But simply hunting and killing the white person does not satisfy Mr. Taco:
“Once [white people] die, we should dig ‘em up, and kill ‘em again, bury ‘em, dig ‘em up, and kill ‘em again, and again, and again!”

A federal court in Washington, D.C., ruled last week that a number of President Obama’s political appointees within the U.S. Department of Justice did in fact interfere with the prosecution of two New Black Panther party members who were videotaped holding a night stick and intimidating voters outside a Philadelphia voting station back in 2008.
Thus far, both Attorney General Eric Holder and the Justice Department have denied the involvement of political leadership in the case, something that is now being called into question.
The conservative legal watchdog group Judicial Watch previously sued the DOJ in federal court regarding Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests pertaining to information surrounding the New Black Panthers case. As a result of the lawsuit, the group was able to obtain a number of withheld documents and are now suing the DOJ for attorney’s fees, the Washington Examiner reports. More importantly, as a result of their motion, a federal judge ruled against the DOJ.
Obama’s DOJ had claimed Judicial Watch was not entitled to attorney’s fees since “none of the records produced in this litigation evidenced any political interference whatsoever in” how the DOJ handled the New Black Panther Party case. But United States District Court JudgeReggie Walton disagreed. Citing a “series of emails” between Obama political appointees and career Justice lawyers, Walton writes:
“The documents reveal that political appointees within DOJ were conferring about the status and resolution of the New Black Panther Party case in the days preceding the DOJ’s dismissal of claims in that case, which would appear to contradict Assistant Attorney General Perez’s testimony that political leadership was not involved in that decision. Surely the public has an interest in documents that cast doubt on the accuracy of government officials’ representations regarding the possible politicization of agency decision-making.”
…
“In sum, the Court concludes that three of the four fee entitlement factors weigh in favor of awarding fees to Judicial Watch. Therefore, Judicial Watch is both eligible and entitled to fees and costs, and the Court must now consider the reasonableness of Judicial Watch’s requested award.”
“The Court’s decision is another piece of evidence showing the Obama Justice Department is run by individuals who have a problem telling the truth,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement. “The decision shows that we can’t trust the Obama Justice Department to fairly administer our nation’s voting and election laws.”
Following a brief investigation into the 2008 New Black Panthers Case, the Department of Justice filed charges. However, the Panthers didn’t respond and a federal court in Philadelphia entered a “default” against all the defendants.
Enter Obama.
Shortly after he became president, the DOJ quickly backpedaled and the charges against three of the New Black Panther party members were dropped and a fourth was let off with a restraining order.

What is it with these Democrats? Walking out on a Congressional Vote because of Politics Race?
If Eric Holder were White they would have stayed and Voted him in Contempt of Congress
What ever happened to their Oath of Office not to mention where is the ethics they were elected to uphold?
The Plain and Simple Fact is they walked out because Eric Holder is Black
These Elected Officials have violated their Oath of Office and need to be doing the job they were elected to do.
Just having a Congressional Black Caucus is Racist in and of itself. Could you imagine what would happen if a proposal was made to have a Congressional “White” Caucus?

Andrea Mitchell on Tuesday did not apologize for heavily editing a clip of Mitt Romney (hear her original edit here) talking about a Wawagas station at a recent campaign stop. Instead, she made an excuse, saying she didn’t get a “chance” to play the whole thing on Monday and played more of the clip to try and soften the blow meant to portray him as out of touch:
The clip Mitchell played Tuesday does offer a little more context, but it should be noted that Mitchell — after laughing at it yesterday — did not take the time to explain the full context: Romney was discussing how private enterprise is more efficient than government.
And all this raises the question: If it was simply a case of Mitchell not having the “chance” to play the full clip on Monday, then why did she even play it in the first place? If the point was to have a fair discussion on Romney and his statements, then there would be no question that she and her team would have played the full clip and given the context.
But I think we know the points wasn’t a fair discussion. It was to get a cheap laugh and mock the former governor. And they achieved their goal.
Shock Video: Obama Admits He Can’t Do What He Did Today
It‘s very rare that you see President Obama admit wrongdoing after he’s done something. Unfortunately, it’s much more common for him to say something is a bad idea and then do it. Listing the number of instances would take too long, but it‘s safe to say it’s a common trend.
And now there’s just one more example. In the following clip, taken from a 2011 Univision Town Hall, President Obama admits that it’s beyond his power to suspend deportations for anyone because (surprise, surprise) there are laws on the books that he’d be breaking by doing that. In other words, the President acknowledges that to do what he did today would be a rank violation of the separation of powers. Watch below:
Couldn’t have put it better ourselves, Mr. President
On Monday Night April 16th Live on Hannity it gets even Worse:
‘I’m Going to Be Fired’: Bob Beckel Detonates a High-Volume ‘What the F***’ Live on Hannity
One of the oldest rules in broadcasting (I’m thinking back to my TV anchor days) is that you should always assume that your microphone might be live. Yet time and time again we see that rule violated. And often it comes right at the moment when the commercial break ends.
Bob Beckel was obviously carrying on with an off-air argument and missed any cue about going back live. So he finished yelling at Neil Boortz, “You don’t know what the f**k you’re talking about.”
In a blooper that is as hilarious as it increasingly becomes painful, it slowly dawns on Beckel what actually happened, as Hannity insists he apologize and Beckel, after saying he won’t several times, finally realizes the cameras are actually rolling. When he finally figured it out, he told Hannity to “run your show better,” then covered his head in shame and refused to speak, other than to say “I’m going to be fired.”
Pastor Jim Wallis’ support for the Occupy Wall Street movement and his leftist inclinations are widely documented. The progressive pastor, who has served as a faith adviser to President Barack Obama, is no stranger to controversy. In an interview that will air nationwide at Lifetree Café locations in the coming days, Wallis made some startling statements about America’s history and heritage.
Lifetree is a weekly, coffee shop-like environment and event series in which individuals come together to explore issues related to God and culture. These events are planned at locations — mainly churches — around the nation and sometimes feature pre-taped videos. In a video to be aired this week, Wallis made the bold claim that America is not a Christian nation.
“It’s not a Christian nation. It’s never been a Christian nation,” Wallis boldly proclaimed while speaking about America. “We set this up so that it would not be a Christian nation for any religious framework.”
But Wallis wasn’t done there. In a preview clip, he goes on to claim that America isn’t mentioned in the Bible as having a “special” or unique place.
“Where in the Bible is there a special place for America?,” he asks. “Where do we get that that’s bad theology…just bad theology.”
The Lifetree Café provides more information about Wallis’ comments and the grander context of the video discussion that they are a part of (you can watch a video preview of his talk here):
An exclusive filmed interview with presidential faith advisor and best-selling author Jim Wallis will be screened at Lifetree Café locations nationwide.
Participants will also hear from long-shot presidential hopeful Joe Schriner, in a filmed interview, about his inclusion of traditional Christian values as planks in his campaign.
This program invites discussion about whether America is a Christian nation, and whether it even matters.
These comments come at a time that the nation — particular faith leaders and communities — is debating about religious freedom and the appropriate role the government should play in private institutions’ operational matters. The ongoing debate about America’s Judeo-Christian roots is one that continues to rage. Wallis’ most recent words will do little more than fuel the associated battles.
Finally a Candidate with the Gumption to Stand Up to the Main Stream Media and call them out for their Socialist Leaning Agenda of Trying to Destroy Conservatives while Supporting and Propping up Barack Obama!
Upon introducing each presidential candidate present at CNN’s Southern debate Thursday evening, moderator John King asked Newt Gingrich about his ex-wife’s accusations that they had an “open marriage.” Gingrich was having none of it, however, and in a fiery display, castigated King and “the elite media.”
Asked if he wanted to respond to his ex-wife’s claims, Gingrich blazed, “No. But I will. I think the destructive, vicious, negative nature of much of the news media makes it harder to govern this country.”
He added that this type of negativity prevents “decent people” from seeking public office.
“I think the destructive, vicious, negative nature of much of the news media makes it harder to govern this country, harder to attract decent people to run for public office.”
The Crowd Erupted in Applause.
“I am appalled that you would begin a presidential debate on a topic like that!”
“Every person in here knows personal pain, Gingrich elaborated. “To take an ex-wife and make it two days before the primary a significant question in a presidential campaign is as close to despicable as anything I can imagine.”
“I am frankly astounded that CNN would take trash like that and use it to open a presidential debate.”
When King attempted to explain that it was not his network that aired the report, Gingrich would not let him off that easy. Incensed, he roared, “Don’t try to blame anybody else. You and your staff chose to start your debate with it. Let me be clear, the story is false.”
“John, it was repeated by your network. You chose to start the debate with it.”
He added, “The story is false.”
“Every personal friend I have who knew us in that period says the story is false. We offered several of them to ABC to prove it was false. They weren’t interested because they would like to attack any Republican..I am tired of the elite media protecting Barack Obama by attacking Republicans.”
