Obama urges Planned Parenthood to help inform on Obamacare

By JENNIFER EPSTEIN

President Obama asked Planned Parenthood and its supporters to play a key role in informing Americans of the details of the Affordable Care Act as he addressed the group Friday April 26th 2013.

“I’m here to … ask for your help, because we need to get the word out,” he said in Washington during a speech rescheduled from Thursday night, when he chose to spend extra time with victims of the West, Texas, explosion. “We need you to tell your patients, your friends, your neighbors, your family members what the health care law means for them.”

It was about as controversial as Obama got in the speech — the first to the group by a sitting U.S. president — as he avoided talking about the Kermit Gosnell trial or a recent ruling on the morning-after pill that Planned Parenthood opposes.

DO YOU REALLY THINK THIS PRESIDENT CARES ABOUT AMERICA’S CHILDREN OR YOU?

gty_obama_gun_tk_130116_wgPRESIDENT OBAMA: That’s why, no matter how great the challenge, no matter how fierce the opposition, if there’s one thing the past few years have shown, it’s that Planned Parenthood is not going anywhere. It’s not going anywhere today. It’s not going anywhere tomorrow.

As long as we’ve got to fight to make sure women have access to quality, affordable health care, and as long as we’ve got to fight to protect a woman’s right to make her own choices about her own health, I want you to know that you’ve also got a President who’s going to be right there with you fighting every step of the way.

Thank you, Planned Parenthood. God bless you. God bless America. Thank you.

The Liberal Media Owes all Conservative Groups an Apology

As tragic as the Boston Bombings were there is something very disturbing about the Liberal Media’s attempts to speculate that this tragedy came at the hands of Right wing Groups.  They repeatedly suggest that it might have been another Oklahoma type domestic terrorist act.  One has to wonder how it is that they did not suggest that maybe, just maybe it was another Weather Underground type bombing by the likes of Bill Ayers, who was bombing police stations and Government Offices in the 60′s and 70′s.   I for one am sick and tired of having the Liberal Media tainting our news with their bias opinions rather then just reporting the facts as they know them at any given time.

When the Government Buys Up all the Ammo it can only mean one thing

obama-the-king

Local law enforcement agencies across the country are facing an ammo shortage, as gun owners concerned about new laws at the federal and state level stock up on firearms and bullets.

At the same time, the Department of Homeland Security has said it wants to buy more than 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition in the next four or five years — which could put further strain on the supply.

The shortage, coupled with an increase in prices, comes as many gun owners head to the stores in anticipation of new gun control laws. States like Colorado and New York have already approved such legislation, while Democrats move toward bringing a bill to the Senate floor. At the moment, the congressional bill does not include an assault-weapons ban, but a ban is expected to be floated as an amendment.

Still, what one official described as “panic-buying” set in, as lawmakers rallied to draft new legislation in the wake of a series of tragic mass shootings last year, from Aurora, Colo., to Oak Creek, Wis., to Newtown, Conn.

In Tennessee’s Hamilton County, the sheriff’s department says its officers will be given fewer bullets when they train at the range.

“The concern over firearms availability and ammunition availability and potentials of gun control certainly has impacted the availability of ammunition purchased locally,” training coordinator Jody Mays said, according to WDEF

Earlier this year, Rollingwood Police Chief Dayne Pryor told MyFoxAustin.com that “panic-buying” is contributing to a situation where officers trying to order new firearms are being forced to wait. He said the city, which is outside Austin, has been told to expect wait times to purchase AR-15s and ammunition.

“We have adequate supplies right now, but we’re limited to how often we can go to the firing range to train because we want to be conservative right now,” he said.

Similarly, the Jenks Police Department in Oklahoma has faced rising ammo and assault weapons costs.

Police Chief Cameron Arthur said the department is still waiting on an order from October, according to KJRH

Meanwhile, according to CNSNews.com, Rep. Timothy Huelskamp, R-Kan., said he still hasn’t heard back from the Department of Homeland Security on why it’s buying 1.6 billion rounds.

The Homeland Security Department, though, has said it needs the bullets for law enforcement agents in training and on duty.

Published federal notices about the ammo buy have agitated conspiracy theorists since the fall. The government’s explanation is much less sinister.

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Ga., and others like it run by DHS use up to 15 million rounds a year, mostly on shooting ranges and in training exercises.

More than 90 federal agencies and 70,000 agents and officers used the department’s training center last year.

The rest of the 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition would be purchased by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the federal government’s second largest criminal investigative agency.

The Homeland Security ammo buy is not the first time the government’s bullets purchases have sparked concerns on the Internet. The same thing happened last year when the Social Security Administration posted a notice that it was buying 174,000 hollow point bullets.

Obama Shuts Down White House Tours while Family Vacations Continue

White House suspends public tours, but first family trips in full swing

WASHINGTON –  Visitors to the nation’s capital looking for a White House public tour are out of luck starting this weekend, courtesy of what the Secret Service says is its own decision to deal with the sequester cuts.

But while the agency said it needed to pull officers off the tours for more pressing assignments, the budget ax didn’t swing early or deep enough to curtail a host of recent Secret Service-chaperoned trips like President Obama’s much-discussed Florida golf outing with Tiger Woods, first lady Michelle Obama‘s high-profile multi-city media appearances, or even daughter Malia Obama’s New York dinner outing with a group of teenage friends.

Obama’s pricey golf outings have been a particular target for Republicans who see them as examples of what they say are the administration’s rather selective concerns with running up the tab of Secret Service resources. On March 5, Texas Rep. Louis Gohmert filed an amendment to a House resolution that would prohibit federal funds from being spent on Obama’s golf trips until public tours of the White House resumed.

Gohmert referenced press reports pegging the cost of a recent Florida golf outing Obama took with Tiger Woods at $1 million. He also cited press reports saying 341 federal workers could have been spared furloughs if Obama had stayed home.

“The president’s travel expenses alone, for the golfing outing with Tiger Woods, would pay for a year of White House visits,” Fox News contributor Charles Krauthammer said Thursday. “So I suggest that perhaps he curtail the travel.”

The price tag and draw on Secret Service resources involving promotional campaigns like Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative is less clear.

The Secret Service does not usually reveal how many agents and other resources are assigned to protective missions so it’s not known just how much it cost taxpayers to ferry the first lady to events like her dance routine on Jimmy Fallon’s show — the highlight of a Feb. 22 media blitz in New York — or her Feb. 27-28 visit to Mississippi, Missouri and her hometown of Chicago.

Those trips would all have involved Secret Service details traveling with the first lady, as well as advance work by teams of agents on location.

When asked by FoxNews.com if the first lady’s office or schedule would be affected by the sequester, the White House issued a 100-word statement that made no mention of any specific cuts that might affect Michelle Obama’s activities — while making a generic reference to cuts affecting the “Executive Office of the President,” which houses the first lady’s office.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, asked how the White House was cutting back, on Thursday declined to provide details about any potential furloughs or other cuts.

But on the decision to close the tours, he said “the President and the first lady have throughout the time that they’ve been here made extraordinary efforts to make this the people’s house, and it is extremely unfortunate that we have a situation like the sequester that compels the kinds of tradeoffs and decisions that this represents.”

It’s also not clear what Secret Service resources were dedicated to the New York visit by 14-year-old Malia Obama, who was spotted dining with a group of friends at the New York restaurant Buddakan less than 24 hours after President Obama signed off on the sequester. According to media reports, the group was chaperoned by four parents and five security guards who dined at the table directly next to them. There were also Secret Service agents in the restaurant, according to reports that said they stayed behind the group.

How much overtime these types of assignments cost the Secret Service may be an area of concern. Donovan told FoxNews.com that overtime costs factored into the decision to shut down the White House tours. By taking the 30 officers involved in the tours and assigning them to high-priority security posts, officers normally on those duties can log fewer hours — in turn saving the Secret Service money.

“It reduces overtime costs overall for us,” Donovan said.

The tours will not be rescheduled and will stay frozen until further notice.

That’s bad news for groups like the sixth graders at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Iowa, who had been planning to take the White House tour on March 16. Fourteen students from that group and their teacher on Thursday took their frustrations to Facebook. In a web video, they held up handmade posters and chanted, “The White House is our house.”

Some Republicans in Congress expressed their displeasure with the cuts more forcefully. “Canceling all self-guided White House tours is the latest shameless political stunt by the president, who is twisting basic government efficiency into an extreme consequence,” Rep. Tom Graves, R-Ga., said in a statement March 5th.

IT’S OUR WHITE HOUSE

Obama, his team struggling with accuracy when explaining impact of Sequester Cuts

President Obama and top administration officials are struggling with accuracy in explaining the impact of billions in federal budget cuts known as sequester that kicked in Saturday morning  – even getting called out by a Capitol Hill superintendent about furloughs for support staffers.

Carlos Elias, the Capitol Building superintendent, sent out a memo Friday reminding staffers that the current sequestration plan does not include “reductions in force or furloughs” and that “pay and benefit of each of our employees will not be impacted.”

Though not directly mentioning Obama by name, Elias also said in the memo that a “high-ranking official said employees that clean and maintain the U.S. Capitol will receive a cut in pay.”

Hours before the memo was released, the president, in what appears to be the administration’s attempt to maximize the potential impact of the cuts, said at a press conference: “Starting tomorrow everybody here, all the folks who are cleaning the floors at the Capitol. Now that Congress has left, somebody’s going to be vacuuming and cleaning those floors and throwing out the garbage. They’re going to have less pay. The janitors, the security guards, they just got a pay cut, and they’ve got to figure out how to manage that. That’s real.”

The cuts were proposed by the president and agreed upon by Congress in 2011 after Democrats and Republicans failed to agree on a more measured way to reduce the deficit. The $85 billion in cuts in 2013 to the Defense Department and domestic programs will be more like $45 billion when pro-rated this year.

Last weekend, Education Secretary Arne Duncan told CBS “there are literally teachers now who are getting pink slips, who are getting notices that they can’t come back this fall.” However, Duncan appeared to backpedal Wednesday, coming up with just one example, a West Virginia county, and the disclaimer that “whether it’s all sequester-related, I don’t know.”

Officials in the state’s Kanawha County told The Washington Post that “transfer notices” were sent to at least 104 educators and they had more to do with how West Virginia allocates federal dollars designated for poor children.

PolitiFact, the Tampa Tribune’s fact-checking operation, has also reviewed officials’ sequester claims, concluding much has been “doomsday” and “worst-case-scenario” rhetoric.

The newspaper’s Pulitzer Prize-winning group found that Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood’s recent warning that air travel will be delayed because of Federal Aviation Administration cuts is just mostly true.

“Flights to major cities like New York, Chicago, and San Francisco and others could experience delays of up to 90 minutes during peak hours because we have fewer (air traffic) controllers on staff,” LaHood said last week.

Thought sequester requires across-the-board cuts with no shifting of money between agency departments, there appears to be some flexibility in make the cuts, including $600 million from the FAA, experts told PolitiFact.

Roughly one-third of FAA employees are controllers, so furloughs are possible. But agency Chairman Michael Huerta recently suggested cuts might start on the midnight shifts or at smaller and low-traffic facilities, which would at least in the short term spare the major airports.

Welcome to Barack Obama’s Utopian America

ATT00001jpg-2390398_p9

As I read the curiosities of folks concerning Obama’s actions I am continually amazed at the surprise
and horror that folks arrive at for their observations

Didn’t you all know the direction of Obama as he said them before he was elected?

Did you not realize his thinking hinged on the fact that he didn’t think that the constitution favored the power of the
federal government enough?

You didn’t know that fact?

He said clearly he thought the constitutions protection of individual liberty was in need of change that sided towards government authority.

Why do you suppose he wanted these changes? Well that is simple enough, he wanted more power for wealth redistribution.

What did you think that meant?

What you don’t clearly see for what is coming is the removal of liberty from individuals by taking power in the machinery of the federal government moves us closer to a one world governance.

Doesn’t this make sense?

When you see our wealth going to third world nations don’t you realize that our control is lowered while the third world nation is elevated?

When you see a diminishing of or military does it occur to you that it becomes easier for us to be subjugated to others’ will?

Oh wait I see why it is you haven’t come to know this: You digest what the media wants you to know.

Don’t you realize that the media who sold us Obama is interested in broadcasting to more viewers. If they go from a national broadcasting position to an international position what happens? More ratings and more money!

Obama would love for nothing more than to deliver the authority of the US Government to a Global Authority where he and his cronies could control the world.

None of this makes sense to you? Why does the Obama Administration want to undo, both the first and second amendments of the constitution?

He wants to get rid of God and Guns… Isn’t that clear? Without God’s authority he becomes God. Without guns nobody stands in his way.

Did Americans go to sleep one night and wake up critically thinking challenged?

When did it become a good idea to participate in something like #OWS?

Those desiring what Obama intended to do are clearly dangerous people because of their weak-minded manner of understanding the responsibility of freedom.

Who in their right mind thinks Obama has any clue as how to meet a payroll?

Since when did a community organizer understand and master the intricacies of profitable investing?

Since when did a non practicing lawyer ever be a good choice for a capital defense argument?

Most folks who wanted Obama, wanted him because they didn’t use their critical thinking apparatus.

What they did use is their desire function or emotive need.

I have no time for folks that demand fairness in governance. I value equal opportunity, not affirmative action.

If you are surprised at what Obama has been doing, then maybe the problem isn’t Obama.

He has done all he said he was going to do.

Maybe the problem is you and your habits of listening to the whores in media that want greater profits worldwide for selling you the biggest package of nonsense sold since the days of the wonder lotions pimped in the old days of western frontier days.

I knew what Obama was all about and he hasn’t surprised me one bit. Self proclaimed smart Americans have surprised me though. I don’t consider anyone to be smart who sided with Utopian thinking or the motivations of Obama.

Achtung: Obama proposes FOOD LAWS for our School Children

bustedHat tip to Fox News for this report

Obama administration proposes sweeping New Rules on what children can eat in schools

The federal government is for the first time proposing sweeping new standards to make sure foods sold in schools are more healthful.

Under the new rules the Agriculture Department proposed Friday, foods like fatty chips, snack cakes, nachos and mozzarella sticks would be taken out of lunch lines and vending machines. In their place would be foods like baked chips, trail mix, diet sodas, lower-calorie sports drinks and low-fat hamburgers.

The new rules are the latest in a long list of changes designed to make foods served in schools more healthful and accessible. Nutritional guidelines for the subsidized lunches were revised last year and put in place last fall.

Last year’s rules faced criticism from some conservatives, including some Republicans in Congress, who said the government shouldn’t be telling kids what to eat.

Mindful of that backlash, the Agriculture Department exempted in-school fundraisers from federal regulation and proposed different options for some parts of the rule, including the calorie limits for drinks in high schools.

The rules, required under a child nutrition law passed by Congress in 2010, are part of the government’s effort to combat childhood obesity. While many schools already have improved their lunch menus and vending machine choices, others still are selling high-fat, high-calorie foods.

The 2010 child-nutrition law also provided more money for schools to serve free and reduced-cost lunches and required more meals to be served to hungry kids.

Schools, the food industry, interest groups and other critics or supporters of the new proposal will have 60 days to comment and suggest changes. A final rule could be in place as soon as the 2014 school year.

Under the most recent proposal, the Agriculture Department would set fat, calorie, sugar and sodium limits on almost all foods sold in schools. Current standards already regulate the nutritional content of school breakfasts and lunches that are subsidized by the federal government, but most lunchrooms also have “a la carte” lines that sell other foods. Food sold through vending machines and in other ways outside the lunchroom has never before been federally regulated.

Most snacks sold in school would have to have less than 200 calories. Elementary and middle schools could sell only water, low-fat milk or 100 percent fruit or vegetable juice. High schools could sell some sports drinks, diet sodas and iced teas, but the calories would be limited. Drinks would be limited to 12-ounce portions in middle schools and to 8-ounce portions in elementary schools.

The standards will cover vending machines, the “a la carte” lunch lines, snack bars and any other foods regularly sold around school. They would not apply to in-school fundraisers or bake sales, though states have the power to regulate them. The new guidelines also would not apply to after-school concessions at school games or theater events, goodies brought from home for classroom celebrations, or anything students bring for their own personal consumption.

In addition to being mindful about the concerns of congressional Republicans, the department also has shown a willingness to work with schools to resolve complaints that some new requirements are hard to meet.

Last year, for example, the government relaxed some limits on meats and grains in subsidized lunches after school nutritionists said they weren’t working.

The food industry has been onboard with many of the changes, and several companies worked with Congress on the child nutrition law two years ago. Major beverage companies have already agreed to take the most caloric sodas out of schools. But those same companies, including Coca-Cola and PepsiCo, also sell many of the non-soda options, like sports drinks, and have lobbied to keep them in vending machines.

A spokeswoman for the American Beverage Association, which represents the soda companies, says they already have greatly reduced the number of calories that kids are consuming at school by pulling out the high-calorie sodas.

“Parents and teachers work hard to instill healthy eating habits in our kids, and these efforts should be supported when kids walk through the schoolhouse door,” Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said.

The Hopelessness of the Hope and Change President

Americans more downbeat than at any time since Carter, poll says

WASHINGTON –  As President Obama begins his second term, he is facing an increasingly pessimistic public who believes that America’s best days are behind them.

According to a recently released Gallup poll, 39 percent of Americans rated the current climate of the country as positive. That’s about the same as it was in 2010 — and has been the lowest recorded by Gallup since President Jimmy Carter’s term in 1979.

Gallup asked Americans to rate their feelings about the country today, five years from now and five years ago. Based on a scale of 0 to 10, the 39 percent of Americans gave a 6-to-10 rating when asked to evaluate the nation’s current climate.

Taken together with the 2010 reading, that’s just above where the country was at the end of the Carter term — when inflation was high and the economy was reeling.  At that time, just 34 percent had a positive outlook.

Optimism steadily rose after 1979, peaking in about 2001 at 73 percent — since the 9/11 terror attacks, national optimism has steadily declined.

Now, with unemployment slightly below 8 percent and economic growth continuing at a meager pace, a similar malaise may be setting in. Even the outlook on the future is down. Forty-eight percent were upbeat about where the country will be in five years, also the lowest since 1979.

The survey also found that most Americans’ attitudes toward the status of the country are connected to their political views. Republicans believe that when there is a GOP president in power, things are better. The same rings true of Democrats and their mood based on the party in power.

When it comes to the future, the polling agency found a 60 percentage-point partisan difference in optimism. Only 15 percent of Republicans felt positive about the future, compared to 75 percent of Democrats.

The Gallup poll results are based on telephone interviews conducted Jan. 7-10, 2012, with 1,011 adults. There is a 4 percentage point margin of error.
