  6. The claim of “no tea party protesters were ever arrested” is not true. All you have to do is search with google, and you can find plenty. Not as many as the Occupy movement has had, but that should lead logical people to ask why. Why is it that Tea Partiers, who show up with guns to their rallies, aren’t arrested, and unarmed, peaceful Occupy protesters are? Why is it that the Tea Party was allowed to have peaceful protests (even armed), and when the Occupy protesters attempt the same thing, they are pepper sprayed, beaten, and arrested en masse?

It’s pretty strange, when you think about it. Tea Party protesters are treated with velvet gloves, and OWS protesters meet the iron fist of the law. It’s strange when you think about it, because OWS protesters aren’t stomping on women’s heads, like this Tea Party guy: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-6992358.html?tag=contentMain%3BcontentBody . Nor are they selling pirated software, like these two Tea Party patriots: http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/07/sc_tea_party_leaders_arrested_for_selling_pirated.php . They also aren’t soliciting prostitutes, like this Tea Party guy, who organized the 2011 Tea Party convention: http://abaldwin360.tumblr.com/post/10940098162/top-tea-party-organizer-arrested-for-soliciting . They also aren’t threatening to go on a mass killing spree, like this Tea Partier, who was arrested by the Feds: http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2009/04/twitterraid/ . Three people were arrested at this Phoenix TP event: http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2011/04/15/20110415Phoenix-tea-party-rally-arrests-abrk.html . Four Tea Party patriots were arrested for trying to bug Sen. Mary Landreau’s office: http://www.politicsla.com/home/item/79-fbi-arrests-tea-party-activist-us-attorneys-son-in-plot-to-bug-landrieus-office . In 2009, 10 TP activists were arrested after they heckled Capitol Police in DC: http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/11/strange-scene-10-arrested-as-tea-party-watchers-heckle-police.php . I could continue, but I’m sure you get the point. The majority of the Tea Party people arrested were arrested for committing real, serious CRIMES. Crimes that were pretty different from, say, breaking curfew or pitching a tent in a public park.

They didn’t arrest Tea Partiers for consistently disrupting Town Hall meetings before the congressional vote on the health care bill, even though those people shouted down anyone who tried to debate with them or talk about anything else. Nope, those people were given a pass. They didn’t even arrest the guy who stomped on the woman’s head, referenced above, until a day or so after the assault.

But boy, they sure do like to arrest people who express views counter to the Tea Party! Like this man, who went to a Tea Party rally, just to express an opposing view. He said he was staging a counterprotest. They hauled him off in cuffs for yelling at the Tea Partiers: http://jacksonville.com/news/georgia/2011-10-03/story/judge-brunswick-man-arrested-shouting-tea-party-protesters-had-rights . I suppose that’s fair, since they did the same thing to those people yelling over everyone else at the Town Hall meetings. Oh, wait! Oops, they didn’t arrest those people at the Town Halls. Hmm. Interesting. I guess it’s okay for the Tea Party to be obnoxious and disrupt meetings where people are expressing their views to their representatives in Congress. It’s not okay for someone to exercise the same right to free speech at a Tea Party rally, though.

I find that the people most enraged about the Occupy movement’s protests tend to be Tea Partiers, who argued vigorously for their own right to assemble and express grievances. These same people did not have to endure pepper spray or beatings by police to try to get their message out. One could easily say that the OWS protesters may be more resiliant and more dedicated to their cause, as they have endured these things, but still come back, still continue to spread their message.

    • Are you kidding me? The tea partiers are treated with velvet gloves??? By whom, pray tell? The main stream media has never said a kind word about the tea party, and in fact, has done nothing but label them as fanatics and racists.

And how can you say the OWS tried to have peaceful protests, when there have been rapes and assaults happening all the time? They’re the ones attacking police. They wouldn’t even let some poor kids walk to school. They scared the crap out of those children. How is that cool? They smell, they steal from each other, they’re spreading diseases. There is no comparing the two. AND, the OWS do not have a coherent message. What exactly do they want? Other than for the rich people to share their money with those who do nothing all day??

The tea partiers were required to pay for permits in order to use the same parks these OWS protesters used, and lived in, for free. How is that showing tea partiers preferential treatment? You’re way off base, here.

    • Dear Youaresowrong,

You are so wrong and your source of news is suspect to begin with. Most liberals get their news and form their opinions based on the Jon Steward Comedy Hour but not you. You tend to scour the fringe news for isolated questionable news topics as we can see by your links. Your attempts to paint the Tea Party in a bad light equal to that of the OWS Protestors is laughable to say the least. Paleeze, maybe you can peddle this crap over at Huffington Post but it won’t fly here. We fact check and verify what we post. Perhaps you should attempt to have a real world experience and try seeking out the Truth and then asking yourself to accept it at face value rather then trying to bend the Truth to fit your personal beliefs and Ideology. You will be amazed at what you would discover!

    • YouAreSoWrong,..you should call yourself,..Iamwoefullymisinformed.
OWS demonstrators don’t carry guns probably because they can’t pass the background check.
Tea Party members do not use public property as a restroom, nor do they use St. Paul’s Cathedral as a latrine.
Most of the arrests occurring during Tea Party rallies have been liberals actively trying to usurp the proceedings.
      Google this,……Common Sense.

  7. You should just about face and look at reality.

  8. Youaresowrong–your handle is very apt–I enjoy referring to you like that. You must have researched the internet for hours (or else are a regular reader of one of the many well-funded-by-Soros smear machine sites) to have come with whopping total of seven (7) stories of indiviuals who supposedly associate with the Tea Party that behaved badly. Considering that hundreds of thousands of regular folks–from across the political spectrum–attend Tea Party rallies that’s a meager percentage. The OWS protests may have started out well-intended, but they quickly got out of hand and reckless. When you have rape, theft, indecent expsoure, disruption of local businesses, harrassment of school children. violence against police officers and threats of violence, localities have to get it under control. Your freedoms end 2 inches from my nose. Frankly, I’m surpirsed the taxpayers, business owners and residents of New York, Oakland and other cities where OWS protests got out of hand, didn’t protest more loudly. Unlike OWS protests, Tea Party Raliles1-get a permit 2-pay any fees associated with the event required by the locality, including security port-a-potties, etc 3-Are one-day events and do not cause a major disruption to the everyday lives of the people who live there. It’s called RESPECT, something the OWS protesters do not, as a whole, exhibit. Were some of the OWS protesters well-intentioned initially? Perhaps. But naive is more likely. However, all good intentions the OWS may have wanted to create for their “99%” have been negated by the rash of vagrancy and crime at OWS events–and the millions of dollars cities are having to spend to secure the protests, protect their citizenry and clean up the tons of garbage left behind.
Honestly, youaresowrong (did I mention, I love calling you by your handle?) if you can explain WHAT the message of OWS exactly is, that would be a start. But no matter how noble their intent may be, they, as a whole, have gone about “spreading their message” like the farmer next door spreads manure. It stinks.

  9. Yes, and let’s not forget the blatant anti-Semitic comments used by dozens or more of the protesters. There are videos galore of this hateful rhetoric, and not one person in Congress or the media called them out on it.

  10. I like your cartoon, kind of reminds me of Goebbels.

  11. There have been Tea Party arrests. But there were maybe three or so? They stormed Congress – got arrested. I don’t think they were arrested for spitting on people though. Not sure.

    • I am sure there were a few, very few and your going to have that in any crowd but over 4,000 at OWS Protests. C’mon, stark contrast between the two my friend.
