Third Scandal Drags on Obama Campaign

– Prophetic Jan. 31 email from an official in the White House Office of Management and Budget released Thursday by the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
First there was Fast and Furious, then there was Solyndra and now there is LightSquared — three high-level scandals that involve allegations of cover-ups inside the Obama administration.
For a president who is already dragging an unpopular agenda and low marks on his handling of the economy along the campaign trail, this scandal troika is seriously bad news.
Treasury Joins FBI, Congress in Investigating Stimulus Loan to Failed Solar Panel Company
The Treasury Department has launched an investigation into a now-defunct solar panel company’s $528 million stimulus loan, focusing specifically on the federal bank that processed it.
The loan to Solyndra has set off a firestorm on Capitol Hill, with a Republican-led House committee releasing emails suggesting the White House had pressured budget officials into expediting their fiscal review of the loan ahead of a plant groundbreaking. The company was touted prominently by the Obama administration for its work growing so-called green jobs.
ATF Florida Gun Probe Earns Congressional Scrutiny in Wake of ‘Fast and Furious’
Several lawmakers are questioning the Obama administration about whether the controversial “Fast and Furious” gunrunning probe may have had a cousin in Florida that resulted in guns being trafficked to Central America.
Rep. Gus Bilirakis, R-Fla., penned a letter Tuesday to Attorney General Eric Holder and ATF Acting Director Kenneth Melson inquiring about a program known as “Operation Castaway.” Other top lawmakers are also starting to look into it, though ATF claims the program was above board and not similar to Operation Fast and Furious at all.
Kenneth Melson has been acting director of the ATF since 2009.
The Justice Department says Castaway was an anti-gun trafficking operation handled by an ATF division in Florida. It resulted last year in a slew of convictions for defendants the department claimed provided firearms linked to violent crimes around the world. But in light of questions surrounding the Fast and Furious probe out of ATF’s Phoenix division, Bilirakis questioned whether Castaway bore the same suspicious hallmarks.
Fast and Furious came under fire for allegedly allowing guns to “walk” across the Mexico border in an attempt to track their migration into cartel hands. Weapons tied to the program were found at the scene of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry’s murder last year.
Solyndra Not Sole Firm to Hit Rock Bottom Despite Stimulus Funding
Solyndra, the solar panel company whose highly publicized failure and consequent investigation by federal authorities has flashed across headlines recently, isn’t the only business to go belly up after benefiting from a piece of the $800 billion economic stimulus package passed in 2009.
At least four other companies have received stimulus funding only to later file for bankruptcy, and two of those were working on alternative energy.
Evergreen Solar Inc., indirectly received $5.3 million through a state grant to open a $450 million facility in 2007 that employed roughly 800 people. The company, once a rock star in the solar industry, filed for bankruptcy protection last month, saying it couldn’t compete with Chinese rivals without reorganizing. The company intends to focus on building up its manufacturing facility in China.

Obama to Propose ‘Buffett Rule’ for Millionaires
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is expected to seek a new base tax rate for the wealthy to ensure that millionaires pay at least at the same percentage as middle income taxpayers.
A White House official said the proposal would be included in the president’s proposal for long term deficit reduction that he will announce Monday. The official spoke anonymously because the plan has not been officially announced.
Obama is going to call it the “Buffett Rule” for Warren Buffett, the billionaire investor who has complained that rich people like him pay a smaller share of their income in federal taxes than middle-class taxpayers.
Buffett wrote in a New York Times op-ed piece last month that he and his rich friends “have been coddled long enough by a billionaire-friendly Congress.”
The measure would be in addition to $447 billion in new tax revenue that Obama is seeking to pay for his short-term spending and tax cutting plan to jump start the economy.

Obama to Present ‘Balanced’ Plan to Tackle Deficit
WASHINGTON – President Obama will present what the White House calls his “vision for a balanced approach” to reducing the federal budget deficit Monday.
The president will announce his recommendations to the Joint Committee on Deficit Reduction in the White House Rose Garden. Obama is looking to stanch the red ink by at least $2 trillion.
The president and his wife, Michelle, will travel later to New York City, where the United Nations General Assembly will be meeting. The president will attend a meet and greet at the U.S. Mission to the U.N.
In the evening, Obama will attend a Democratic National Committee event at a private residence in New York.

Obama to propose $1.5 trillion in new tax revenue
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama’s proposal to reduce long-term deficits with $1.5 trillion in new taxes is less an opening bid in a negotiation than it is an opening salvo in a struggle to draw sharp contrasts with congressional Republicans.
Obama’s proposal is aimed predominantly at the wealthy and comes just days after House Speaker John Boehner ruled out tax increases to lower deficits. It also comes amid a clamor in his own Democratic Party for Obama to take a tougher stance against Republicans. And while the plan stands little chance of passing Congress, its populist pitch is one that the White House believes the public can support.
The core of the president’s plan totals just more than $2 trillion in deficit reduction over 10 years. It combines the new taxes with $580 billion in cuts to mandatory benefit programs, including $248 billion from Medicare.

A Holder Deaprtment of Justice won’t investigate, and the Progressive Congressional leadership would make it difficult to appoint a special prosecuter. Protect the Elite Political Class (PEPC). Jon Corzine, Jamie Dimon, Charles Rangle, Maxine waters, and Chris Dodd.
President Obama’s presidency will end in January 2013, or if reelected August 2013, because of the ‘Fast and Furious’ scandal. It’s the biggest Pesidential scandal of all time. The Watergate scandal involved the White House, and the Nixon campaign, whereas the Fast and Furious scandal involves The White House, Departmant of Justice, Department of Alcohol, Tabacco, and Firearms, Department of Homeland Security, and the State Department. The killing of border guard Brian Terry by one of the The Fast and Furious assult weapons stopped the ‘Gunrunner’ program cold, and showed that the objective of Fast and Furious at its completion was to push for curtailment of second amendment rights. The aproval for such an operation had to come from the top down, and that was the reason for Prseident Obama’s executine privilege; which is very similar to President Nixon’s July 7, 1973 excutive order over the Watergate scandal. Will we see a special prosecuter? Will there be Congressional hearings? If Obama’s reelected, an August immpeachment may be a pipedream. So it’s importtant that we get out the vote, show the MSM as corrupt as Washington and Wall Street are, and if Romney’s elected. Hold his feet to the fire, because 2014 will be the reemergence of the Tea Party if he fails to reverse ObamaCare, and the miserable economy.
Wow you sure put a lot of thought into this and I have to say I agree completely. This scandal needs to pick up steam rather then fade away and I was hoping Hannity and Fox would carry the ball on this all the way.
MSM’s Vain with BAIN. Fox, Sean Hannity, and Glenn Beck have done enough to get ‘Fast and Furious’ exposed. The executive privilege put the ball in the Congressional court to play, because a Holder Department of Justice will never investigate the obvious scandal, because it implicates many department in an attempt to sacrifice national secuirity for the sake of gathering infomation useful in getting legislation to curtail second amendment rights.
